The Media's priorities in covering demonstrations.

We called Aljazeera, Reuters and the Syrian TVs, to cover the silent demonstration. Reuters didn’t come but the rest did... Suddenly at 11:10 school kids came in and they started shouting and cheering to Gaza and the president… our demonstration is silent so we waited and apparently the Media was more interested in the cliché and that’s what they broadcasted, inspite they witnessed with their cameras the conversation between our spokesman and the employees of the EC when handling them the petition, it was so significant, but it wasn't broadcasted, when we were asked to give the Security office a copy before sending it to the EC, but I think it didn't fit to their program…
I wish we have a real media that just take the incident as it is, like what Media is supposed to do.
I didn't mind the Syrian TV doing this though, it was expected but what about Aljazeera?, It got me to question the degree of professionalism of those who work as reporters..
it's not a big deal but it is just....sad and annoying.

FACTS ARE FACTS…NOT TAKING SIDES!

Maybe next time you could be more dramatic.. bring candles with you..

maybe their priority is to show how angry the people are..?

Yes, I guess so.
The point of the demonstration was not the media, it was just to send the petition. so, its not that big of deal. But I am just annoyed that the camera didn't broadcast the irony of the conversation between our spokesman and the employees in there.

Anyhow, the Anger is critical to show on TV but the coverage must take other forms as well to be more affective and less dramatic.

I still love Aljazeera and I think they are the most reliable news agent in the Middle East.

The Western media, specially in the USA are much worse, they are biased, they hardly ever invite Hamas to defend itself, and use every sophisticated trick in the book to justify Israel and the US crimes. At least Al Jazeerah came unlike Reuters.
It is interesting because I just finished sending the e-mail below to : joe@msnbc.com. It is an American TV program, it had 5 reporters yesterday including the famous X-CBS Dan Rather , whom they were calling a “legend”, and the 5 of them were totally biased for Israel,…I thought this e-mail can shed a light on what you wrote:

It is the “Sanctions” Legendary Five‏!
Joe asked on 1/7/09 why did Hamas fire missiles on Israel. No one of the "Legendary" journalist present including Dan Rather, was welling to tell the Truth and answer that.
It is Israel criminal sanctions on Gaza which started before the missile attacks, and during the ceasefire (plus assassination of 20 Palestinians), is why Hamas fired the missiles. Do they have the right to fight an occupation which is starving them ?
Shame on the American media, and the legendary hypocrite American politicians who sell their honor to the Israeli lobby money and influence.
Even Al Jazeerah, the Arabic TV has been inviting Israeli politicians/generals (The Israeli Ben Laden’s who are bombing Gaza’s children) to speak and give Israel point of view to the Arab people. Is Qatar now the Home of the Free and the TV of the Brave !?
If you are afraid to speak the truth because of the Israelis lobby may punish you, at least invite people from Hamas, or any Palestinians to balance your Israeli lies and propaganda.
It is these lies, and the biased American media, which helped bring the disaster in Iraq, which we are all paying for now, and for may years to come.

I think aljazeera are still doing great coverage.
on Thursday, few British parliament members visited Damascus and they met with a number of Syrian youth. I remember Keith Hill was talking about the influence of Aljazeera showing the real image of what's happening in Gaza, he shows his admiration and respect to this channel.
